In 2015, CAAH completed the Bloomfield Affordable Housing Development, a 2 year project which involved the purchase and development of 6a Bloomfield St, Gillen, NT. The project delivered 13 new affordable housing properties for working Aboriginal people and families, including eleven new 1 and 2 bedroom townhouses and 2 refurbished 3 bedroom townhouses. The project was part of the National Rental Affordability Scheme.
The capital for the purchase and development was provided through the Aboriginal Benefits Account, which is managed by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. The project was managed by CAAH in conjuction with Sue Dugdale Architechts and the properties were constructed by Morelli Projects, a local Alice Springs builder.
CAAH has now been managing the properties as part of our community housing portfolio for over three years offering over 40 people access to safe and affordable accommodation.
